We think they're bad now, but they've been at least this bad for a long, long time.
I think we are used to politicians behaving a certain (bully-like, pompous, unfaithful, lots-of-rhetoric-that-doesn't-mean-crap) way and we excuse them under the "well, they're politicians" umbrella.
I think another problem is most politicians don't write their own speeches or their own ads. They're like puppets who do whatever is desired by the people who are backing them with money.
I could go on and on, but I'm starting to stray from your question, and like Lauren, I don't know what the answer is.
It's good that we're asking these kinds of questions, though.Wendy Toliverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14642277380582169548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38838926.post-69477433872783173352010-11-04T11:25:22.141-07:002010-11-04T11:25:22.141-07:00Good post, Steph. I know this will make me sound old but just at lunch today I was discussing how the Internet has led to a sharp increase in incivility.Lauren Baratz-Logstedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09697004599212202264noreply@blogger.com
