Like Saturday, when I helped my husband load a refrigerator onto a rented truck, only to sit in traffic forever (welcome to California!), so I could get home, do a quick change, and follow my BFF to four different parties (just another Saturday night for her- totally exhausting for me), making for a bleary eyed Sunday morning when we had to wrangle said fridge out of the truck and into the house.
Oh yeah, and last week I went here---
Donated Saving Zoë to the local library in memory of a dear friend (as I do with all of my books)
And had an overall, amazing time!
But now I hear that Michael Douglas learned how to operate a backhoe and spent time at Costco (a first for him!) while researching his latest movie role- and apparently he is now a big fan of both earth shoveling and big box shopping!
Oh, I can feel the lure of celebrity news pulling me in!
What about you- how do you keep up with current events (or celebrity scandal masquerading as current events!) -?

I read the NY Times online each day (my old hometown). And I check in on Perez Hilton, because my oldest teen got me hooked (and that way I stay current for my YAs and don't seem like SUCH an old hag.) :-)

Hey Erica-
When I'm writing- I SCAN the NYT online headlines-- but I'm happy to say, that, for the most part, most of the time, I've somehow managed to kick my Defamer dot com addiction- which just might turn me into an old hag-- so I'm thinking I should maybe go back?? Oh, the conundrum!
The only thing I'm truly consistent about is being on the computer every day and I do pop in on a few news sites (OK and some celeb gossip sites) so I'll have a general idea what's going on in the world. If I'm on deadline or traveling out of Internet range, I'm completely clueless.
I actually think I was more connected to US current events while we were living in Japan because I watched American Morning on CNN every night before I went to bed, just to have some English TV going on. :)

I learn everything I need to know (and probably a few things I'd be better off not knowing) from Pink is the New Blog. It's a love thing!!!!
Hey Gerb-
I was totally in the know when I was a flight attendant, because I pretty much read newspapers all day long, well, when I wasn't pushing that 300 pound cart up the aisle!
But now? Well, I tend to live in my own world, coming up for air on occasion!
Amanda-
That is a totally cute blog name- I MUST investigate!
I always pay attention to who wins the awards. I love Ricky Gervais too - he's so funny!
Hey Sara-
So good to know another Ricky fan- he's a comic genius!
Hey Alyson, I'm always reading the news headlines on the Internet. The 'net gets the headlines out there REAL quick! :) ~ k
My 411 on current events come from People Magazine ;) Don't like the feel of a newspaper (too inky), but find that people will tell me all the important news. Like that Michael Douglas made it to Costco for the first time...that's hilarious! Reminds me of when Jessica & Nick shopped at Home Depot and Jessica was annoyed that they SOLD air conditioners, but didn't actually use air conditioning at the store.
Kelly- Yup, headline scanning definitely works!
Susan- I never thought I'd say this-- but, um, Jessica has a point! I wonder if Michael was able to convince Catherine to give Costco a try!
