Those who know me best realize I love these things, and whenever a Wendy gift-giving occasion arises, I’m only too happy to be the recipient of gift certificates for spa treatments. Today I had an appointment for a pedicure. I’m traveling to Akumal, Mexico (helloooo beach!) next week and thought it would be fun to have pretty tootsies. The crazy thing is, I’ve had this pedi gift certificate, a gift from my dear mother-in-law, for something like four years. There is also a gift certificate for a massage sitting on my desk. My husband gave it to me to celebrate having survived the first annual Eden Writer’s Conference. That happened back in October! I guess I’m so excited about the prospect of a spa treatment, I’m in no rush to actually schedule it. Maybe it’s my sanity medicine, for days like the one last week when I asked the carpet cleaner guy for a “twice in one week” discount.
What is something you cherish so much, you don’t want to rush into it?

Every once in awhile I'll come across a book that I don't want to finish because it's like losing a group of friends... but other than that, probably getting my hair cut. But I think it's more fear of losing those few centimeters (11 inches are getting chopped next time, honest, they have to) than loving getting my hair washed.
I love getting pedis but I'm too much of a penny pincher to spend money on something I could do myself.
I do this from big things--like--okay, my mind just went blank, but trust me there's something--to little things--like, if I'm waiting for a particular e-mail, when it arrives I'll read the other ones first so I can save the special one and savor it-- kind of like dessert!
Oh, and those toes are sparklin'!!
Have fun in Mexico!
I'm an impatient Aries so I'm not very good at putting good things off. Bad things however is another question all together and I can avoid housework for weeks. I swear it's a talent!!! Have a great holiday!
I have beautiful stationary I've kept for years and only reaallly special occasions can get me to pull it out and use it. Ditto my favorite body lotion...
Samantha, I hope you're planning on giving those 11 of hair to Locks for Love!
I'm not good at savouring things. If I see an email I'm waiting for in my box I'll pounce on it straight away... no messing!!!
Have a fabulous holiday.
you reminded me that i have a massage gift certificate that expires may 5th! ack. gotta go!
thanks :)
Love the color, Wendy! :)
Samantha, isn't that the greatest when you find a book so wonderful, you don't want it to end?
Alyson, Amanda and Sara: Interesting! I wonder if asking someone which emails he or she opens first has to do with certain personality traits. I usually open one or two emails before opening the one I'm really excited about, either that, or I read the oldest ones first and go in order.
Gerb, I'm the same with lotion. Especially if I know I'll never get to have that particular kind again.
Melissa, go get that massage! You deserve it!
Jessica, thank you. I quite like the color too.
I know you ladies will do a great job holding down the fort while I'm relaxing on the beach. :)
I loooooove spas! An hour long aromatherapy massage--pure bliss!
