Oh My Blog

So this week at TFC it's all about blogs and websites. Hmmm, okay, so this could be a problem because I sort of have an awful confession to make. I'm over it. All of it. In fact apart from my cute blog post title (and you must admit that it is cute) , I've got nothing.

You see for the last few months this terrible malady has been falling over me. I like to call it blogitis. Anyway, anyone who is suffering from blogitis will know what it means. Basically whenever I go to blog, I've got nothing to say. Nope, not a word. Even worse, I can hardly bring myself to read other blogs either. For a long time I thought it was because of my incredibly lazy nature, but honestly, I think it's more than that. I've been blogging and blog-reading for about five years now and I feel all blogged out. Hence the blogitis.

Also, will it sound like treason if I admit that I think it's all Twitter's fault? I don't even want to like Twitter (part of blogitis symptoms you understand) but there is something so appealing about the prospect of only having to write in small, bite-sized chunks that I can still manage it. But right now, all my other Internet stuff is a bit of a struggle (okay and when I say struggle, I actually mean non-existent).

So what about everyone else. Any blogitis sufferers out there? If so, should I be worried? Is this something that will go away or am I going to be a blog leper forever more?

Oh, that sounds so sad. I have only been around for a few months so I haven't experienced this yet. 5 years is a long time. You need to reconnect with the blogging communtity, let some of the newbies inject you with a good dose of motivation.

I agree with you--love twitter. Take a twitter break and come back to blogs when you feel ready. There'll be a time when you log for something semi-meatier, I think!

Ellie - you are very wise! I definitely need some blog motivation!!!

Melissa - oh, I love it when people give me permission to do what I want to do!!!!! And yes, I think I need to stop fighting it and wait til the love comes back!!!!

I do have a mild case. If comments and interacting with blog readers is something that keeps you going, forget it, because it seems like now all the reaction (if ANY) to a post happens on twitter and facebook (if you feed your posts to them). So you can start feeling like...is anyone reading? What's the point? I, however, carry on, because I enjoy blogging and still have lots of random thoughts I want to express even if I'm just talkin' to myself.

Sara - I think you've nailed it about the comments. Plus with google reader, half the time you can't even see who is reading the post and who isn't. Hahaha - I'm obviously a girl who doesn't work well in a bubble!!!!!

Amanda, I feel your pain. When I started out blogging, I spent too much time trying to come up with something interesting/relevant to say. It took away precious writing time. Now I only update my blog on Wednesdays and Fridays with a set format (and interviews/freebies with other authors) so it makes it easier - and probably more interesting for my readers!

Gerb - Oh, I like the idea of some structure because right now it's all very random! I think I'll give that a go - and twice a week doesn't sound too scary at all!
