Is it me?????

This weeks topic is books. Hurray!!

I LOVE books. I write books. I read books. I spend hours in the bookstore touching all the books. So.... why is it that I rarely, if ever, read a book more than once? This is something I've thought about for a long time. I never get the urge to re-read anything. Yet, when it comes to movies I watch them over and over (and over and over) again.

If you asked me whether I prefer to read or watch movies I'd probably choose reading. I can't ever remember not reading from when I was a tiny child. So what's with the read it only once scenario???

Any ideas, anyone? And are any of you like me?

When I was younger, I used to reread my favorites time and time again. I think I read The Witch of Blackbird Pond a dozen times. I loved Victoria Holt novels and used to read them time and time again (especially On the Night of the Seventh Moon, set in the Black Forest. *sigh*) I even read Gone With the Wind several times. When I reread, I often find new layers, new subtleties. These days, though, I don't have the time I once did to reread. Even books that I dearly love. Maybe that's the answer to the one-time-only syndrome. Too many books, too little time!

Some books I can read time and time again - like the Harry Potter series which I've read so many times the covers are falling off!!

I'm with Gerb- when I was younger I used to read my favorites over and over again-- even Victoria Holt- Night of the Seventh Moon! (I hadn't thought about that book in ages!) Recently I re-read Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Lover, but for the most part, I can barely get through the books in my TBR stack!

Snap, I'm another one who used to re-read all the time, but haven't done so in ages. In fact everytime I had University exams I have an overwhelming desire to re-read my favorite Georgette Heyers. Back then it was called avoidance, but these days it can be called research!!!!!

Hi, Sara! I re-read my favourites all the time when I was a kid, and it was always great to find something new in the books with every read.

You all got me thinking about when I was younger. I do remember re-reading Pride and Prejudice, Rebecca and To Serve Them All My Days. But that's definitely it. And only one re-read each!!!

There are some books that I want to reread, but my TBR and TBB piles are humongous and I'm barely chipping away at those with school work to read too, I do have keeper shelves and hope to someday reread.
