Learn to Fly

(blog title courtesy of the Foo Fighters)

So this week were talking about Movies, Books, TV, and/or Music and because of it, I decided to play a little hooky conduct some serious research by grabbing hold of my hubby and heading for a matinee.

I love matinees. They're one of my favorite, self-indulgent treats. You always get a good seat, there's no line for popcorn, and even the ticket price is discounted--a win in every conceivable way!

And since we'd already seen AVATAR on Imax (AMAAAAZINNGGG!!!!), we decided to see UP IN THE AIR because we'd heard such great things about it and let me tell you it did not disappoint! I liked it because it was funny, smart, contemplative, and even though it would've been nice, there was no typical "Hollywood" ending. It was both modern and real. Oh, and did I mention it stars Le Clooney???

As for books- well, right now, I hate to say it, but I'm so buried in deadlines, the only book I'm reading/writing/editing is the still untitled, Immortals Book #5, that is due in 2 months--gulp!!

As for TV- I'm thrilled that Big Love is back! And I've been watching lots of Criminal Minds reruns and have developed a significant nerd crush on Dr. Spencer Reid!

As for music- I just downloaded Allison Krauss's live, cover version of "Baby Now That I've Found You" and I've listened to it so many times, I'm almost sick of it. Almost. But not quite!

So what about you? What movies have you seen, what books are you reading, what TV shows are you watching, and what song is playing on your own personal heavy rotation???

I was home for two weeks, vacation and sick leave, so I had some time to devote to this exact mission...

MOVIES: Julie & Julia, The Proposal, The Ugly Truth, All About Steve, 9, HP6, A Perfect Getaway (good mind bender). I still want to see Avatar before it leaves the theater!

BOOKS: I'm currently reading Industrial Magic, 4th bk in the Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong, which I am enjoying very much!

TV: Bones (I got Season 4 for xmas.) I also watch Criminal Minds and love Spencer Reid, he's such a cutie. :) Chuck also just came back and my hubby and I are fans. And as soon as it starts back up I'll be watching Vampire Diaries again (I read the books and then fell in love with the darn show & am helplessly hooked). :) I also like gLee, SYTYCD and I just started watching Supernatural.

MUSIC: I have also fallen in love with a ton of songs from the vampire diaries episodes, one is "Wait it Out" by Imogen Heap, another is "Yet" by Switchfoot, which I already loved them anyway :-). There are more, but I will not embarrass myself further with this knowledge, ha ha! And, I have loved Alison Krauss since I was a kid. I'm kind of all over the board on music. I enjoy most things Blue October as well. :)

Great post, I really like your group cafe blog, great idea!

Ha! I actually thought of you with your flight attendant background when I first saw the previews for this. :-)

Movies - Saw THE BLIND SIDE with hubby on our last date day. He read the book a year or so ago, but I hadn't. Just awesome.

TV - American Idol is back! So looking forward to seeing Ellen this season. Don't usually watch until Hollywood week because the early auditions are too hurtful for my taste, but we'll be back in the groove soon.

Music - No song obsession that I can think of. I do like the new Savannah Outen song though... why does that girl not have a full album out yet? Seriously talented, she is.

I LOOOOOVE Alison Krauss. I listened to one of her albums every day in a breakup-heavy summer. Sigh. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment.

Also, I bet UP IN THE AIR was interesting from your former flight attendant POV, no? I loved the anal travel tips about security lines and whatnot.

Going to AVATAR (finally!) tonight!

Kay- Oh- Blind Side--it's on my list!!

Melissa- Yep, I could relate to it in so many ways and I'm def guilty of the security line profiling! :)

Yes, Alyson, give Vampire Diaries a try! If not now, there is always Netflix. I had no idea I would get so hooked, it's been fun. :)

I also want to see Lovely Bones & Blind Side!

And I JUST saw Away We Go tonight (movie actually came out last summer) and it was really, really good!

Criminal Minds is my second all time favorite tv show. I also have a nerd crush on Dr Reed! How can you not. Hes so dang cute and so smart! I love that show!

Prison Break being my number one! Who doesn't love looking at Michael Scofield for an hour. That guy is major eye candy! Plus the show always kept me on edge as to what was going to happen. I know own all four seasons on DVD and still watch them.
