Road Trip? That Means Fritos!

Generally, I'm pretty healthy about what I eat. I snack on 1/2 avocados or grapefruits, I always ask for brown rice instead of white, and my milk? It's skim.

But here's the thing: When I'm on a road trip, all bets are off. Gas stations, McDonald's, Krispy Kreme -- I load up at each of these spots. I love a 20 oz. Coke, glazed donuts, Slim Jims, the two-cheeseburger meal.... I'm starting to salivate right now.

But the real prize of my road trip splurges is a bag of Honey BBQ Fritos. Have you guys had these? They are delicious and golden-orange and crunchy and spicy-sweet. The twisted shape of them lets them hold more of the flavor-salt, I believe. I cannot resist their siren song.

So tell me: Am I the only one with this all's-fair-in-road-tripping-snacks theory? And if not, what's your favorite on-the-go, all-bets-are-off travel food?

It's been awhile since I've been on a road trip. But the last one was on a trip to Arizona for San Diego Padres Spring Training. I was the driver (& we were driving my manual 4Runner, which means no one else knew how to drive it), so I made sure I had some sour candy (preferably the worms) and some Starbucks Double Shot. I need these in order to stay awake. Oh and some salt and vinigar chips too.

(these sound good...time to see what's in the pantry)

When I'm on the road I tend to eat less healthy than when I'm at home. This isn't good because I am on the road fairly often. Never heard of Honey BBQ Fritos, but they sound very good. I think I'll have to give them a try on my next road trip.

Calories don't count when you are on the road. You're a smart woman - you should know that!

I tend to go for the not-too-messy snackfoods b/c it never fails that I'm driving a carload of kids. We go for Twizzlers, trail mix, and non-dairy drinks with lids.

My oldest son loves those kind of Fritos, and he also likes the flaming hot Cheetos.

Ah, you've got to love snack food!!!! A road trip wouldn't be the same without Diet Coke, cheese balls and strawberry filled Fredo Frogs. Now, where are my car keys...

Now I'm jonsing for a road trip so I can splurge on red vines, sour skittles, Squirt, and of course Fritos to offset all the sugar. I did find a new road trip favorite. Have you tried the Caramel Buggles? They're AWESOME!!! You get sweet and salty at the same time.

Heck yes! Roadtrips are officially time for Dr. Pepper and those big boxes of multicolored Nerds. Just pour 'em right into your mouth, baby!

All over a big Dr. Pepper, plain Fritos (all that lovely salt & grease), and can't forget the chocolate! Snickers or Milky Way (esp. if they have the Milky Way in the fridge--yummers!).

Think I may need a road trip soon!

I could drive a million miles fueled by red vines, raspberry ice tea, and taco bell.
