I can’t believe Teen Fiction Café has hit its 3-year anniversary. I couldn’t be more thrilled for TFC and to be part of such an awesome group of authors. So three years ago, where was I?
Three years ago…
~ Of course, I joined up with the cool ladies at TFC to talk book gossip and good times!
~ Tina Ferraro, author of The ABC’s of Kissing Boys, partnered with me on YA Fresh to talk books and all that’s fresh.
~ I jumped on the Gilmore Girls fan wagon and had a serious GG marathon, followed by a totally awesome Veronica Mars series-fest.
~ Blog Memes were hot! (haha!)
~ I was a blogging mad woman, blogging here, YA Fresh, just starting with MTV Books, and keeping it real at my own personal blog. (I’ve so mellowed out a bit on the blogging craze!)
On a personal note, three years ago…
~ Graffiti Girl had hit shelves in May 2007.
~ I was crazy mad with nerves.
~ I had my first book signing with tons of friends and family supporting me.
~ I discovered that adults and teens would somehow find a connection with Angel and her dream.
~ And that the written word can touch a young teen’s heart.
What I’ve learned in these three years…
~ That you can’t please everyone with your stories, but the ones you do please makes it all worth it.
~ That even though publishing is not the easiest profession, I love being a storyteller.
~ And it’s people like you, the readers and writers I interact with, who make me feel a part of something good and real.
So thank you for reading and for being a part of TFC’s Anniversary!! I’ll be giving away one book to an interested TFC reader, Graffiti Girl or Invisible Touch (winner’s choice!). Just leave a comment…about something positive that happened to you three years ago.
Good luck! :) :)

Three years ago, I had just recieved my bachelor's degree in education. It was over a decade in the making, but well worth it to finally own that very expensive piece of paper that says I did it.
My positive thing from three years ago? Hmm... Oh, right. I joined you here, Kelly!
Three years ago, huh? Does happily playing with my much smaller children count?
Three years ago my career as a professional speaker took off - and life has never been the same!
Three years ago, I adopted my adorable puppy, Emma. She is the best pet I ever had and I wouldn't give her up for anything.
Love the photos, Kelly! Thanks so much for sharing your story.

Fab post Kelly..... I'll echo what Lauren said, a positive thing that's happened is meeting you and all the TFCers!
I think it's been about three years ago...though maybe four?
I met my best friend Kaitlynn :)
3 years ago (and a couple of months) I made friends with 3 girls who are practically my (platonic) soul-mates. One in particular, my twin Liz, I owe a debt that's enormous. They took me in and made me feel so...wanted that I can't express what that did for my depressed self-esteem. I wouldn't be who I am without their support.
I met my fabulous online crit partner in a chat room three years ago!

Love the post! hmm three years ago, what happened then? Well 3,5 years ago I was on vacation abroad for the first time in 8 years! That was a lot of fun, and let's say that I didn't wait for 8 more years before going abroad after that! ;)
Three years ago a poem of mine was released as a poster on Young Environmentalists Day!
It just, I don't know -I felt sorta accomplished :))
Lovely post! Three years ago, I completely changed my outlook on life. It was the year that my attitude and perspective on the world had a total transformation and I am so grateful today that I had that 'lightbulb' moment because it's really changed who I am. Also, I first went vegetarian three years ago (later becoming a vegan) which was one of the best decisions I have ever made! =)
Prom and graduation are definitely something positive that happened in the last three years. Of course, I went into music theatre too, that was a lot of fun. Though my three years haven't been such a whirl-wind as yours, I realize I had a lot of fun. :)
I'm jealous of all your social author functions, Kelly! Here's to 3 yaers!
Wow, I love all the good moments you all are sharing from 3 years ago!!
Thank you!! You all rock!!
Three years ago...they diagnosed my Mom with Cancer, which was horrible. The good side of that was the fact that they discovered it three years ago and not two or never, catching it in a early stage that she could fight, so she's happy and cancer free today :)
Three years ago I was excited about finishing my junior year of high school.
Three years ago I had my first professional job as an afterschool care teacher! And I started reading more and more YA books..
Three years ago?
Hmm... Oh! Three years ago was when I was first introduced to YA books. Books have always been written off as boring till then.
I was at a random bookstore in Seattle, and I saw a huge crowd of people listening to an author speak. Miss Richelle Mead looked all sassy with her bright red hair... Heck yes I picked up a book!
(Though honestly, I only bought the book for the signature) I was bored one night and decided to pick up my long forgotten copy and OHMYGOSH I LOVED IT!
Now you'll never see me without a book in hand. :)
That was also when I first picked up a pen and started writing.
Love, Hannah S.
That's an easy one! I had a baby boy AFTER winning my battle with breast cancer :)
Look at that darling picture! Great post, Kelly!
3 yrs. ago I got pregnant with our first boy (4th kid). He now has a baby brother (5th kid) and we are done- for now atleast =)
Three years ago, I met my best friend and we've been close ever since. She's so amazing!!
Three years ago, I started volunteering to help out with the school's play productions. At first, it was just community service, but then I kept coming back every time a production was happening. Some of the best moments of my life happened with those plays, so I think that's a very costive thing that happened! :D
