Normal service has resumed......

So............... we've had the most amazing two weeks celebrating our 3rd anniversary, so much so I reckon we should celebrate every week.... okay maybe every three years..... hope you all had as much fun as we all did.

Anyway, I almost forgot that it's my turn to post this week, what with the party here and getting ready for my holiday (2 more sleeps, not that I'm counting).

Which got me thinking. I get very excited about going away, or anything coming up in the future... it's sort of what keeps me going, knowing what the next exciting thing is going to be (like, after our holiday, there's the writing conference in Australia, and then after that putting our motel on the market, and after that moving to Australia.... see it's all so exciting).

My husband is totally the opposite, he doesn't look forward to anything because he doesn't want to be disappointed... WTF!!! Seriously, even if things don't turn out as expected who cares.... you still have all the time you spent enjoying it as you looked forward to it, you can't take that away.

So, I thought I'd ask you what you're like. Do you look forward to things, or do you try not to think about them?

I try and not think about things because when I get too anxious and think everythings going to turn out great it always goes wrong. So now i just take a day at a time.

I definitely get excited about upcoming things like vacations. Sometimes it interferes with my sleep!

I loved the celebration you ladies put on. It was great reading everyone's stories, your road to publication and what got you where you are.
Oh, and GET excited. For sure. If it falls through, at least you had the excitement at the start, right? There's a difference between getting excited about something and getting your hopes up about something that MIGHT not happen, and they're possibly dashed. But if you know it's happening? Excitement is the way to go. For sure.
You're moving to Australia? Wow. Well if you move to Melbourne and want a writing buddy, I can be your gal!

AUSTRALIA? I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA. Where abouts in Aust are you moving too?
I do look forwards to things, but i do also tend to get my heart broken alot, but when it all works out good it feels all the better from all the dissapointment. Wow your moving to Australia!! you are so going to love it, its the best country in the world

Sara - as you well know, I'm an excitement junkie just like you. And also like you, I own one very laid back husband who doesn't tend to get excited about anything until after it's happened!!!!!

I like to have things to look forward to BUT I try not to wish away today. If I do that - I'll miss many "todays" that have great stuff too :)

I get excited about things but my Five-Minute Rule for bumming over bad things extends to exulting over good things as well. I go all "Yippee!" or "That sucks" as the case applies, and then it's back to work.

I know. I'm a boring person.

Wendy, I know exactly what you mean.... last night I could hardly sleep at all thinking of our holiday.

Sarah, we're going to the Sunshine Coast - hopefully somewhere between Caloundra and Noosa!! Will you be at the RWAus conference this year? Amanda and I are doing a YA workshop.

Lauren, I'm totally with you on the 5 minute bummer rule.... but def not when it comes to good things... I guess I like smiling too much, :)
