I made this collage for the cover of my senior-year scrapbook (1995, thank you very much!) and it really illustrates who I was in high school. Because all of my best friends back then were a part of me. And they still are.
Yes, that's me in the center in my Nanette Lepore prom dress--which is in my closet right now. I am nothing if not nostalgic.
So what about you guys? Still friends with those high school BFFs? Or--if you're in the midst of high school right now--do you plan to stay friends?
I recommend it. There's no one in the world like the people who knew you then.

I graduated last year, so remaining friends with my high school friends is not too much of a hardship. Although I don't know how I would do it without myspace or xanga. Most of the friends that I 'lost' were during high school when our personalities changed. (IE, they were into drugs and I wasn't.)
I am still best friends with my cousin, who's a week older than me and my best friend from second grade. 18 years and 11 years isn't too bad.
Amen to friends.
The best moments of high school so far have been with my BFFs. They ARE the best moments of my high school career. Female friendship, in particular, is kind of pooh-poohed by the Critics That Be, but female friendship is what has kept me from going bananas and kept me feeling and looking glam. A great friend is something not even Jimmy Choos can compete with.
I graduated high school well over twenty years ago (obviously I was a child genius!!!!) and I'm sad to say that I'm only in touch with one of my friends, who I've known since I was 10. It probably hasn't helped that I've moved country far too many times since then!!!!
So true. Whenver I see high school people I may not have been best friends with, it's still nice to catch up.
That's adorable! And, yes, I'm friends with many of the people I was friends with in high school. I owe some of that to Facebook, but much of it I owe to the special people I knew when I was that age.
I have a page in my "memory book" from hs that looks almost exactly like that! Maybe I'll post it sometime...
Looking at it now, I'm still in touch with most of them, although I only see two of them regularly.
I love looking through my senior year scrap book. I was such a funny little thing back then.
Now, fourteen years later, I'm still close friends w/one of my BFFs from high school, which is great. And with the ones that I don't KIT with, I still keep the memories of our fun times in my warm and fuzzy heart.
Yes, one of my BFFs I've known for over 30 years. And even though we're the other side fo the world and see each other rarely it doesn't matter. We just pick up where we left off. In fact I'm going to text her now....
Aw. I would have loved to meet you at the party! Have fun being out of town!
I'm glad so many of you guys are BFFs with people from your past, too. Amanda, moving around does make it hard, but like Caryn said, facebook helps!
I moved away not long after high school, but because of e-mail, I'm back in touch with most of my old friends-- even went to Panama to catch up with one of them!
