PROMO WEEK: ANGEL'S CHOICE

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to write about here for Promo Week, so I guess I'll just tell you a little bit about Angel's Choice. It's about a girl on the fast track for Yale who finds herself pregnant, winding up in that condition after having sex for the first time, in an act she can't even remember the details of because she was so drunk at the time. Talk about a bad night. For a long time Angel is in denial, but when the truth becomes obvious, what path will she choose as being the right one for her?

I wrote this book not as a polemic or prescription, but rather as an exploration of the choices available to girls both current and historical. And I wanted to tell the story of this girl who I like very much and how she arrives at a decision that is exactly right for her; not the rest of the world, just her.

The reviews of the book have been pretty good - Kliatt said in their review, "readers will be changed by the total reading experience" - but even more important, the letters from teens have been outstanding.

So here's the contest: Leave a comment telling me what your favorite YA book of the last year was, so I can add to my shopping list. Contest closes midnight tomorrow night (that would be the midnight separating Monday from Tuesday for those of you who get as confused about these things as I do), at which time I'll throw all the commenters' names into a hat and pick a winner for a signed copy of ANGEL'S CHOICE. And hey, even if you don't win, you can always go out and buy the book.

Be well. Don't forget to write.

I've read so many good books recently, having to choose one proved too difficult!! I've settled for two... 'I Was A Teenage Popsicle' and 'Saving Zoe'.

Great post! So far the best ya book I've read this year is, Revenge of the Homecoming Queen by Stephanie Hale (though I still have a whole heap on my pile that I haven't got to yet)

Some of my fave YA reads this year were actually older ones, pubbed a few years back, so I had to think hard about this! I really liked Laura Bowers' Beauty Shop For Rent. It was charming and funny and sad. AND pubbed in 2007! :)

So many more waiting to be read....

I have read SO MANY!

I loved Jennifer Echols, The Boys Next Door. There were many others, but this surprised me a bit. Not sure what I was expecting but it was way better:)

I read alot.
I'm going to have to go with Eclipse or Love is a Many Trousered Thing. Both books were amazing and kept your attention to the end.
Peace out, Sarah.

Well, the only YA I read last year were the one's I blurbed. . .which were all good and I don't want to play favorites, though that didn't stop me from buying a ton of YA, so I'll say that I'm really looking forward to reading "The Second Virginity of Suzy Green," which recently arrived on my doorstep!

Touch question! But Just Listen by Sarah Dessen was not only great, but memorable!

My favorite book published last year would be New Moon. This year it was Eclipse. I love them both, because they contain what always look for in a book. Suspense, romance, conflict, faith that is tested at every moment, and much much more. They keep me on the edge of my seat, literally. I think I even skipped a meal. That's a big deal, considering we're Chinese, and my mom cooks the best food ever! The first book to this series is Twilight, in case you wanted to start with that book. Anyways, I definitely recommend this series.

What a hard choice! I've read so many great ones! But I'm going to agree with Sara. I just finished Saving Zoe and it's a gorgeous story! Very moving.
